MEAT SHIPS.

BIG LIST FOR JANUARY. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 9. A report furnished to the Prime Minister legardmg the shipment of Im-perial-owned and “free” meat from New Zealand shows that when the Imperial requisition came to an end on June 3t/th 192'3, farmers and some others were anxious as to what the future would hold in the prospects of securing shipment of this season’s meat, which was not subject to commandeer, ihe shipments in January will practically clear the stores of mutton and lamb, which is the property of the imiierial Government. There will also be space for a considerable quantity ot new season's killings and for butter and cheese. The quantities of frozen meat in store on December 31st, for which no shipping space had been allotted, were ys follow, in freight carcases: Imperial Government mutton, lamb and sundries, 3/7,925; .imperial Government beef, 599,277; free meat 148,309. Allotted to steamers listed for January loading, freight carcases:—lmperial Government mutton, lamb and sundries, 350,980; imperial Government beef, 3 20,000; free meat 148,300. The balance lemaining alter loading the January steamers: Imperial Government mutton, lamb and sundries, 26,945; Imperial beef, 479,277; free meat, ail Mutton, lamb and sundries left on hand comprise small parcels at ports to which no steamers have been allotted. Beef will be lilted by steamers arranged by Vestey Bros. In addition to free meat killed subsequent to June 30th, 1920, space has been allotted in January steamers for a further 182,911 freight carcases, to be killed in this month. The total allocations for January steamers will therefore be:— Freight carcases Imperial mutton, etc., 350,980; Imperial beef, 120,000; free meat (1920) 148,309; free meat (1921) 182,911; total, 802,200. In addition to meat there will be space in the January steamers for 369,600 boxes of butter and 115,250 crates of cheese.
