BRITISH TRADE.

DOMINIONS’ TOURING EXHIBITION. LONDON, Jan. 6. The Prince o£ Wales inspected the overseas Trade Department’s Foreign Samples Exhibition, comprising a hundred thousand samples of competitive manufactured goods, which are in demand in overseas markets, also the Dominions’ Touring Exhibition, which comprises auout a thousand cases from about six hundred manufacturers. It is expected the tour will start early in the summer. The Prince of Wales gave the following message: “I am very glad to hear that the touring exhibition is likely to be completed at an early date. During my recent tour I realised we are in danger of losing our hold of certain markets in the Dominions, in which we were formerly supreme, but from which we are gradually- being ousted by foreign competition. I am quite sure, however, that the danger is only temporary and will pass. I am confident the exhibition will have a warm welcome throughout the Dominions. Its advent will do much to remove the impression that British merchants do ufot fully realise the importance of trade with the Empire, and the great opportunities for development. Wishing the venture every success, I shall watch it with the keenest interest and keep in touch with its progress.”
