I Cr. Holder criticised the administration, and the cost ot living was already i high enough. ' He moved that, the matter be held over lor a full meeting of the Council. Cr. Bill seconded, tut objected to l r. Holder jumping on them and telling them that they were no good. Cr. Holder : 1 didn't say that. Ur. Christensen said without the .-n--creased price they could not carry on at a profit. The price compared favourably with other places. Hp would agree to deferring the matter. It was decided the matter: at a special meeting uti the 22nd inst. . The overseer reported it would cost £l5OO to prevent the overflowing of the Tutaenui stream, and recommended that the property owner* adjoining libould b<* given notice to clear it. The recommendation was approved. It was decided that the police be asked to hand over to the Borough solicitors the prosecutions ior backing cars in High Street. The receipts for the month totalled £BUO 12s 9d. Gas working account — Receipts: Gas consumers, £312 5s lid; attings, £7B 14s 3d; coke, tar, etc., £ll7 3s 4d; refund*. £26. Total, £534 3s 6d. Expenditure —Gas working: Wages etc., £297 2s sd; gas fittings. £3B 18s 8d; interest and sinking Fund, £3B 10s. total, £374 Ils Id.
