FATALITY AT IHAKARA.

INDICATIONS OF SUICIDE. LEVIN, November 3. | The death occurred to-day of the ; well-known farmer, Archibald Gray, iof Ihakara, near Levin, under cir- ■ cumstances which point strongly to ' suicide. He left his house with the intention of catching a horse to drive to Levin, but shortly after a shot was h >ard, and Gray was found dead in the orchard with a bullet wound in his head and a revolver by his side. ; The lute Mr Gray was an old resident of the Levin district, and about 25 yars ago was clerk to the Court and constable there. He filled the position for some years, when he retired and took up farming, which he had followed ever since. Though not identifying himself prominently with public life, he ’was greatly respected for his good qualities and his integrity and upright character as a Government officer.
