THE V.B.C. MEETING. Received November 4, 7.25 p.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 4. For the third day of the V.R.C. spring meeting at Flemington, it was damp and ' cloudy, with light rain at intervals. ' There was a big attendance, including : the Governor-General. The going was ■ fair. Fro.nt Rank led for a long way in f . the November Hurdles Race, but blundl ered at the last jump and lost by a neck | to the unfancied Nick A. Jack, ridden jby the New Zealander J. N. McGregor. . ‘Atacre, on the outside, finished strongly and won the Mimosa Stakes over the J last half furlong from Even Song, who I was prominent all the way. The well fancied Saiatis had a bad run and was last home. Otacre cost a thousand guineas as a yearling. Greenstead was a strong fancy in the Linlithgow Stakes. He took charge at the end of a furlong and never looked like being beaten. The time was two seconds outside the course record. Kingbier scored a runaway victory in the Carnival Handicap. The weather was tine for the final fast gallops at Kiccarton. Xvork was divided between the plough and outside of tiie course proper. Chimera cut out half a mile on the plough in 50 1 / 2 sec. Humbug beat Gasoag over nine furlongs on the course in 1.d9 4-5. Deiignt, Surveyor and the remainder of G. Jones’ team did steady pacing. Vespucci beat Adopted over half a mile on the plough in 50 1-5 secs., Rossini doing 50 2-5 sec. Warlike covered live furlongs on the plough in 1.4. Johnny Walker put in a working gallop, the last five furlongs taking 1.8. Dainty Step and Bonnie Maid covered seven furlongs on the grass in 1.33 2-5. Chrysostom beat Early Dawn over five on the grass in 1.2 1-5. Winter Wind gave Nightraider a bad beating over a mile and a-quarter on the plough in 2.12. Clean Sweep beat Onslaught over five furlongs on the Plough in 1.4. Sunart just beat Rude m a six furlong sprint on the grass in 1.18 1-5. Vagabond galloped a mile and a quarter in 2.15 4-5, with two companions over the first mile. Miss -Mimic ran six furlongs on the plough in 1.18 1-5. Amythas went half a mile on the plough in 51. secs. Tenterfield and Rebuff covered a mile and a quarter on the grass in 2.14. • Oratress easily beat Kilgour over a ■ mile and a-quarter on the ploug hin 2.13. I Arrowsmith spurted five furlongs on the I plough, in 1.1 3-5. Maioha on the same ( ground registered 1.2 2-5. Imaribbon beat Bengeroop over a mile and a-half in 2.46 1-5. Trespass beat Miss Gold and Bonnetter over six furlongs on the plough in 1.16 2-5. Kilrush went half a mile on the plough in 52 secs., and went on for another round at a useful pace. Michaela and Silver Peak covered six furlongs in 1.17 1-5. Isobel beat Demand comfortably over nine furlongs, run in 1.59 2-5. Ben Bolt and As arlove left a mile on the plough behind in 1.46. Will Oakland galloped half a mile, the last three in 36 2-5 sec. Kilkee ran six furlongs on the grass in 1.20 3-5. Killowen ran five furlongs on the plough in 1.4 2-5. Bebehead easily beat Jack Symons over seven furlongs in 1.34 2-5. Lord Nagar and Falstaff jumped four hurdles well. General Petain and Gamecock started for a similar task. Gamecock ran off at the first hurdle, but did the rest of the round safely. Bombproof jumped two hurdles arid then did useful work on the fiat. Royal Mac and Irish Elegance ran' six furlongs on the grass in 1.17 2-5. EZ.LEBSI.IE TRAINING NOTES. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 4. The weather was fine, and all work registered on the course proper outside of the trestles. The going was on the dead side. Loved One went fast over four furlongs to the mile and ahalf post in 50 3-5. She is very well. Flowing Bowl covered six furlongs in 1.21 2-5. Golden Petal moved freely over a mile from the new post in 1.15 1-5. Hyrax was better than King Chira, Octoplete being beaten off, in a live furlong sprint on the new post. A large number of horses were sprinted over four furlongs, the best of the gallops being that put up by Emerald Hill, his time being 50 4-5. Dovelet sprinted attractively, covering five furlongs in 1.6 4-5, and is a likely winner at the meeting. Scrap o' Paper beat Esthonia over five in 1.5 3-5, Dissertation taking 1.8. The latter does not appear to have done well since his arrival. Some Boy 11. and Marble Arch ran a mile in 1.43, the pair being together at the finish. Prince Charleroi put up the fastest five furlong gallop, taking 1.4, but he usually fails to repeat his track form in races. Royal Abbey went well over seven furlongs in 1.35. Listowel was going easy alongside Woden at the end of six furlongs run in 1.19 3-s—the fastest gallop of the morning over the distance. The Guineas candidate finished up his task splendidly. Tinopai was tiring at the end of seven furlongs rum in 1.33 4-5. Namatere went four furlongs in 52, and will be hard to beat in the Welcome Stakes. Rose Queen beat Demagogue over a mile to the new post in 1.4 8 3-5, finishing well. The first half took 52, and five furlongs 1.5. Queen Abbey covered four furlongs in 31. Murihiku the same in. 53. Jutland did strong pacing work. Te Oro made a hack of Tabasco over six fu:longs in 1.22 1-5. After breakfast Volo and the rest of Pine’s team did steady racing, as did George’s team. Isingarch. Miss Ellice, and Pukemaramara finished in that order at the end vf five furlongs to fhe new post. Miss Ellice is likely to win soon. ■’ Bomady sprinted four furlongs in 53. Golden Dream, Snowdon, and Koodoo fineshed in that order over three furlongs run in 40. Monopole, First Call, and Tahuroa were sent round over the big country. The former pair fenced well, but the latter baulked repeatedly, and was taken off. Monopole gave a very promising display. Royal Irish easily beat Prince Rufus over six furlongs in 1.22. • The weather now promises to be fine for the meeting. Both Rose Queen and Listowel galloped attractively. Percival mav ride the former in the Mitchelson Cup, and Robinson the latter in the Guineas.
