LABOUR SET-BACK IN ENGLAND
RESULT OF MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. Received Nov. 3, 10.15 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 3. The returns of the English municipal elections show that out of 747 Labour candidates only 199 were elected, which is a striking reversal of the results in 1919, leaving Labour considerably weaker. This is attributed mainly to the agitation against increased rates, which were especially heavy where Labour dominated the Councils.
