Hannan for receiving. Mr SAnntord appeared for l’o<s ami Mi Lyon lot Hannan. A remand was granted till August 6th. bail being allowed as previously granted. RANGITIKEI HIM CIA B'S BALLThe annual ball of the Raiigilikei Hunt was held in the Marton Town Hall on Friday evening, and eclipsed all previous functions bv it> splendour in decorations, which vere artistically designed and representing the colours of the Hunt —scarlet and white. 1 rum the dome of the hail was suspended a canopy of bracken with irstcons ol starlet roses intermingled with the electric lights, which made a vt-ry pretty effect. The balcony of the dress circle was draped witn white, lined with greenery, and as a centre piece trophies oi the hunting field —gorse, whips, spurs, and brush:*'. The sides oi the hall were also draped in white, with horse shoes ol scarier artificial rose.- interval.', and lined with greenery. Ihe front oi the stage was decorated to represent a rustic fence, in which the greenery, with scarlet iiowm intermingled with striking effect. ‘1 he stage, which w also used tor dancing, represented a drawing room. i‘.i which the same artistic arrangement of scarlet, white and green added to the picturesciueness of the scene, xranslorming the hall into a perfect wonderland. The supper room was a revelation in decoration, the Hunt s colours being used to advantage. Streamers of scarlet ribbon.' were suspended from the centre of the o iling to both side', the lights being abe shaded in in scarlet, and with its background oi white and gieen. and floating balloons, the supper room presented a dainty an.l artiste* appearance. A novel attraction in table decorations were the numerous tripods ot holly branches and bevvies, with miniature lights burning as centre pieces. The hull w:i' brilliantly illuminated with coloured electric lights, which was carried out by the firm of Messrs Macdougall and Co. It. is impossible to describe in detail the splend d jwork carried out by the laidies Committee. who hud spent con-ilerahlc tune in devising and arranging such a wealtfl of colour. The supper W3' provided bv the lady members of the Hunt and their personal friends, ami could not- be excelled. As the strains ot the opening waits creik-d the ball and the members of the Hunt, in their scarlet trimmings. i.nd the ladies in their gorgeous frocks, the hall presented a scene that will long he remembered by those who had the opportunity of attending the Hunt bad ot 1929. A special programme for the «H.casion had been prepared by ( rozier s ’ Premiere Dunce Combination, who were ■ heartily applauded during the evening for their contributions. Way (joint secietaries)—were imremitting in their attentions to vi'itors, and are to be congratulated on lie manner in which they carried out their onerous duties. The Master (Mr D. A. Riddiford) on behalf of the members of the Hunt, tendered a hearty welcome to the large assemblage and hoped that they would enjoy themselves. Members of the Hunt were extremely pleaded at the unanimous response by the farmers and visitors from neighbouring districts to their invitation. During the supper interval extras were played by Mrs Hazell, Misses Cameron and Beckett and Mr Renwick, who were heartily applauded. The waltz-gallop, so the. music of “Good Night. Ladies" and “John Peel” terminated the most successful and spectacular ball ever held under the auspices of the Rangitikei Hunt. SCHOOL FOOTBALL.
