A SEAMAN'S GRIEVANCE.

DAMAGES AGAINST THE UNION. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 28. Judgment was given to-day by the Full Court in the case, James McGregor, a seaman, against. W. T. Young, general secretary of the New Zealand Federated .Seamen’s Union, for £lOOO damages, on the ground that he had been wrongfully prevented from following his occupation. He alleged that he was removed from two steamers by instructions of the Seamen's Union. The defence was that McGregor wrongfully interfered with the as-sistant-secretary of the Union in the performance of his duty. It was admitted for the defence that he was suspended by the Union’s executive, and later on was expelled in accordance with the Union’s rules. The jury awarded £l5O for wrongful suspension and expulsion. All other questions were reserved for argument .by the Full Court., which unanimously decided to-day that McGregor was entitled to recover the amount awarded by the jury, with costs. JudgbSent was entered accordingly. .
