MELBOURNE, July 29. lu defiance of Senator Pearce’s warning a meeting of 5000 assembled on the steps of Federal Parliament House and gave cheers for Father Jerger, Archbishop Mannix, and Mr Ryan. The business in the Hduse of Representatives was unable to proceed for a while. There was no aggressive action on either side. Aji the Senate, Senator Millen gave nonce to introduce legislation preventing meetings in the precincts of Parliament.
