DUTY TO BE REMITTED ON IMPORTED CEMENT. (Per Press Association. 3 WELLINGTON, July 29. The acute shortage of cement in New Zealand lias been engaging the attention of the Board of Trade, and to-night the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. Lee) stated that as a means of temporarily easing the present position the Government had given its approval to the recommendation of the Board for the remission of duty on imported cement up to 5000 tons upon the following conditions (a) to claim remission of duty on cement imported, each person shall be required to apply to the Board of Trade for a license; (b) all licenses so issued shall be subject to conditions that the licensees shall supply to the Board of Trade a complete schedule showing the distribution of each shipment received, and shall also disclose to the Board of Trade the price at which the cement was purchased, and shall agree to sell the cement in New Zealand at a price to be agreed upon between importers and the Board of Trade.
