INDIA’S TROUBLES

MILL STRIKERS REFUSE TO RESUME. REBELLIOUS TRIBESMEN STILL OBSTINATE. (Keuier.) Received January 30. 8.15 p.m. BOMBAY, January 29. A meeting of twenty thousand mill strikers decided not to resume, despite the advice of the Labour Settlement Committee. Advices from Sorarogha state that the prospects of peace with the tribesmen are remote, owing to their neglect to fulfil the undertakings recently given at Jandola. Consequently severe reprisals have been adopted. The Kotskai tower was blown up and the destruction of other valuable property will continue until the tribesmen are recalled. Our troops steadily advance. despite sniping and attacks on the pickets covering the troops, which were easily repulsed. Reinforcements have arrived in readiness for the next advance.
