CONCILIATION COUNCIL.

WOOL STOREMEN’S DISPUTE. A sitting of the Conciliation Council was held yesterday, Mr W. Newton presiding, when the demands of the local Wool and Grain Storemen’s Union were considered. The assessors for the Union were Messis H. A. Otto, Monteith, and McKenzie. and those for the employers were Messrs AV. Brown, H. Couper, and A. Waekes. The principal demands were for an eight hour day. wages for permanent hands at £4 2s 6d per week, and for casuals at Is lid per hour; special pay for special work; overtime at the rate of 2s 7d per hour and 3s lOd per hour: double ordinary time for Sundays and New Year’s Day, and double overtime rates for all other holidays. No agreement except on a few minor clauses was arrived at, and the dispute waa referred to the Arbitration Court.
