KAI IWI SCHOOL CONCERT.

Last Friday evening a most enjoyable concert, in aid of the Kai Iwi School prize fund, was held in the Kai Iwi Town Hall. There was a large and most appreciative audience, and as a result the prize fund benefited to a handsome extent. The programme consisted of a variety of dances, songs, cake-walks, and recitations, rendered by the school children, assisted by Misses .. Dobson and B. Gray. The items ware all received with much applause, and nearly every item was heartily encored. At the conclusion of the concert, Mr W. A. Collins, in a few well chosen words, proposed a vote of thanks to the performers for their entertainment, .and to all who assisted in any way, more especially to Misses Dobson and Gray, who, with much patience and ability, had in a few days so ably instructed and trained the children in the • various items rendered that evening. The vote was carried by acclamation. Thanks were also due to Mrs and Miss Dobson for so kindly preparing the many and varied fancy dresses required for the different items rendered. Mrs Sinclair kindly presented a cake and a plate for the purpose of a weight-guessing competition, which resulted in a considerable increase to the evening's takings. The concert was followed by a dance, which was continued to a late hour, and fittingly concluded a most enjoyable evening's entertainment.
