ROSS-SMITH ACROSS JAVA.
FOUR DAYS FROM AUSTRALIA.

Ross-Smith passed Batavia at 3.25 this afternoon. He arrived and landed at Kalidjotte at 4 o'clock. Interviewed, he stated that he was staffing at daylight to-morrow for Sourabaya, four hours' flight, if the weather was favourable. In any case, he was within four days of Australia.
Dutch flying officers shouldered Ross-^Smith at Kalidjotte and carried him into the presence of the GoVer-nor-General, who welcomed him.
