THE WEATHER.
The barometer has risen everywhere, and high and squally southerly winds have prevailed. Cold unsettled weather has ruled, with heavy showers in many parts, but conditions have moderated somewhat to-day. Present indications are for strong decreasing southerly winds, veering to westerlies, shortly in and southward of Cook Strait. Weather cold and changeable, with scattered showers, in northern and East Coast districts, but a temporary improvement may be expected soon. Barometer rising, but fall in the South after about 24 hours.
