AUCKLAND BUTCHERS' STRIKE.
SITUATION UNALTERED.

AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. The position regarding the but* chers' strike remains unaltered. The Conciliation Commissioner is still active in his efforts to bring about a settlement and a slight improvement is reported in the prospects of eventually achieving a compromise.
The most reecnt development is a proposal by the Butchers' Union to open a retail shop in the city manned by its members and directed, as to business arrangements, by its executive. The Westfleld stock sales are suspended pending a settlement of the dispute.
