RETURNED SOLDIERS DECIDE
TO CLEAN UP TOWN.
CONFLICT WITH POLICE
ALL HOTELS CLOSED,
Received December 2, 10.5 p.m MELBOURNE, December 2.
There was a riot at Charleville, where a band of returned soldiers decided to clear the town of undesirables. In many conflicts with the police, several were injured. Further bloodshed was avoided by the police promising to clear the town. All hotels were closed.
