WANGANUI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

The Council of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce met last night.

Mr A. Harris presided. There were also present: Messrs E. A. Campbell, A. Robinson, J. Murray, W. Brown, S. Holm, P. Higgenbottom, ■S. Read, G. H. Pownall. NEW MEMBERS. The following new members were elected: Messrs A. Smith, N.Z. Farmers' Distributing Company, Kaiapoi Woollen Company, C. G. Ross, J, M. Brenhan, Adams and Boyd, G. J. DO, M. Powrie, Wall and ijogie, C. G. Russell, H. P. Lewis, J. T. Hod-J der, P. T. England. MISCELLANEOUS. I In connection with the Mangahao hydro-electrical power scheme it was decided to inquire where it was proposed to make centres to reticulate from. Owing to the change of late night it was decided to inform the Chief Postmaster the Chamber is of the opinion Friday night would be preferable to keep the Post Office Savings Bank open.

It was decided to support the Hawera Chamber's proposal that the Wellington express should be speeded up.
