A special train will leav« (on Wednesday and Thursday) next at 6.40 a.m., arriving at the 'course about 10.30 am ; leaves the 'course on the return journey after the last race. The late. Mr. A. W. Cox, whose death wa? announced by cable on Friday from England, up till twelve months ago used to race under the name of "Mr. Fairie," who owned several great horses, including the famous sire Bayardo, whose stock are making good names for themselves. /Conspicuous are Gay Crusader (Triple Crown winner of 1917) and Gainsborough (last year's Derby victor). — ' The members 6i H. Telford's Trcntham team have gone into winter quarters. Fulica and Violefcts, who were entered' for the Marlborougli Meeting, will not make the trip across the Strait. The only local horses nominated for the Otaki meeting are the FordelT pair, Reele and Arrowfield, which claim an engagement in the Rauk&wa Cup. !.. Killowen (KiJbroney—Success), who | was leased by Mr. T, H. Lowry from Mr. J. B. Reid, has been returned to hie owner, and was shipped South last week. Killowen was seen, at his best at Rnndwiok in the spring, where he won the Oibborn Stakes and Gratham Stakes, and 978 soys. in stakes. The Hvmettu^—Simois gelding Rev r enue. bred by the Hon. J. D. Ormonde and purchased by Mr.'Ernest Alison, of Devonport, as a yearling, at Alexandra Park, Epsom, went the way of ail •flesh on Monday last. He was leased by Mr. W. H. fay lor, for whom he won several races/ and was placed in others, and he won'as recently as the Auckland Kacing Club's Easter meeting, paying a dividend which topped all others at'the meeting. Strange to say, he was ailing jast before that meeting^ land recovered, but was taken bad after returning home, and though he rallisd i for a time, was again found to be sufj ferirtg, and though all was done for him possible under the circumstances ° he passed away as stated., He was never of a robust character, but it was thought that as he aged he would become more useful. His connections had at lea-?t two ,good dividends through following him, and he probably paid his way. The Appeal of the Hamilton Raring Club against the decision of the Auckland Racing District Committee, whicth upheld Mr, Ewen W. Alison's apjpeal against the decision of the Hamilton i Racing Club in disqualifying him for twelve months, on account of evidence which that body deemed misleading, was settled by the Appeal Court set up by the Chairman of the Racing Conference. The judges, whose names have not been furnished, were unanimous that the decision of the Auckland District Committee was the right one on the evidence, and in due course the official finding will be before us. The Hamilton Racing Club were not satisfied with the running of the hurdle gelding Thrace at their recent meetnig, and it was while proseouting inquiries as to the betting transactions of tho owner that the evidence they deem, e>d unsatisfactory caused them to take action. We are now told that the hea<l und fiont of Mr. Alison's offending was in informing the stewards of the Hamilton Racing Club that he had £20 on Thrace, and withheld at the time the information that he had also put £20 on for his father, and £20 for his brother Ernest and Mr. W. J. Wilson, the lessee of Taiamai. The District Committee held that while he might have been more frank in disclosing these facts, the omission to do so did nofe bring him within tho rule upon which the Hamilton Club relied. These are the facts. At Palmerston North on Thursday at the sale of blood stock, there was ft large attendance of visiting and local sportsmen, but bidding was not brisk. The only horses' disposed of were those on account of D. Buick estate, which were offered without reserve. Following are the prices and the buyers: —• Tangimonnn, D. Buick. 21 guineas; hrown colt by Sarto —Tangimoana, C. H. Washer, Hawera, 37gns.; chestnut ebstemare, Abermonna. by Anerwotnock — Tangiinoana, J. A. McGill. 15pis.; chestnut filly, California—Rangihene, P. Williams. Wellington, llgns.; brown filly, Aherbrothock — Ranpihene, C. Jones, Woodville, 23gns.; chestnut mare, Kuralitzer, by Papakura—Austerlita, A. J. Tosward, 30gns.
