In the House of Commons, Sir TCrio Geddes stated that the Government had purchased the whole of the Australian .and Now Zealand exportable surplus of frozen meat. The quantityoorir New Zealand meat awaiting shipment on March 31 was 173,639 tons, and shipment was proceeding as fast as steamers became available. Beef and wether mutton generally would be reserved lor the Allied forces, and light mutton ami lamb for civilians in Britain. Small quantities of New Zealand meat have been exported to the west coast uf Canada and the United States.
LONDON, May 8. Thirty-three steamers are taking troops to Australia during the noxt lout; weeks. Most of the vessels are going in ballast, owing to the paucity of cargo offering. NEW YORK, May 8.
