RUGBY FOOTBALL.
A most enthusiastic meeting ot ihe ' Wanganui branch oi' the N.Z. Referees' Association was held in Duigan's rooms oh Thursday night. Mr. T. P. Souter I piesided, and welcomed those present, | ainougit "whoni were some new mem. !b; rs. The election of officers took place as follows:—President, Mr. C. Atkinstm; Vice-President, Mr. T. P. Souter; Mauq-gement Committee, President, Vico-President, and Messrs Greenwood and Boyle; Appointment Committee, Messrs. Atkinson, Souter and Greenwood. Tho executive have agreed to frame a, sot oi-' workable rules for future guidance. Messrs Atk inson and Greenwood were deputed to wait on the Rugby Union to arrange for certain privileges. It vvjis resolved to meet weekly for the discussion of rules of tho game. Players are to be invited to these discussions also. Amongst the new members elected •was Mr. .). Williams, a prominent reifreo. late of Dunedin and Auckland. Mr. Williams, who is the new superintendent of the Fire Bripia'-k', was at one time president of the Otago Referees' Association, and will be a decided acquisition to the local ranks of ''whistle blowers."
