CONCLUDING DAY'S RESULTS
(Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., May 8. The second day of the Manawat.u races was held in fine weather. The attendance was fair and the going good. The "tote" handled £38,144, against £4-5,397 for the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £74,239, against £91,310 last year. Results :—
Kairanga Hurdles—l Master Lupin (A. McDonald), 1; 3 Vacuum, 2; 6, Multicipal, 3. Also started: 7 Seadown, 2 Reformation, 8 ;Multum, 5 Orleans, 4 Thrace. Won easily. Time, 2 mm. 47 sees.
Stonyhirst Welter—2 Hurry Up (R, Reed), 1; 6 Multaine, 2; 8 Munster, y. (Also started: 5 Robur. 11 Detroit, 12 Birkenvale, 3 Paddington Green, 1 Fabriquette, 9 Kiltess, 10 Golden Grafton, 4 Tiranga, 7 Gold Problem. Won by a length. Time 1 mm 28 2-5 gees. Av : i Hack Weiter. —5 The Speaker (R. Reed), 1; 6 Glentour, 2; 3 Railand, 3s Also started: 8 Cello, 2 Pretty Bobby, 1 Cadet, 4 Wapping, 9 Transmission, 7 Pomeroy, 10 Goiconda. Won by a length. Time, 1 mm 45 1-5 sees. Fifteenth Manawafcu Stakes (6 furlongs;—! Desert Gold (H. Gray), 9.1, 1; 1 Lucid (L. G. Morris), 7.6, 2; 2 Warplane (R. Reed), 8.2, 3. Also ran: 2 Ermine. 3 Amythas, 9 Manila, 4 Hetaua, 8 Lady Ball, 5 Miss Gold. The two first horses yere coupled on the machine. Desert Gold won easily. Time 1 mm 13 4-5 sees., a record for the rm-e. Longburn Handicap (mile and a quarter).—2 Vagabond (H. Gray). 1; 3 Nobleman, 2; 4 Marqueteur, 3. AUso started : 1 Gazique, 6 Master Moutoa, 5 Tressida. 8 Bagdad, 7 Love Match, 9 Classification.
