MELBOURNE, May 7
Neighbours entering the house of a settler named Beckmann, near Ballarat, found the mother, daughter and son dead from influenza. The father, who was totally blind, and recovering from the epidemic, was unable to afford information beyond stating that he knew they were sick and had not heard them speak for some time.
