INFORMAL VOTES
(To the Editor). Sir, —It is a matter for regret that t-o many informal vote 3 were cast m tho recent locnl elections and also at fclw Referendum Poll. If all the voters had cast valid votes the personnel of the Boards could have been materially altered. Why so many errors? Is it from carelessness or ignorance or from insufficient instructions on the ballot paper. lam led to believe that a great many votes at the Referendum Poll were invalidated by the fact that the voter signed his 'or her) name or made other marks on the paper contrary to instructions. "■ The system of ballot at present in vogue appears to be simple enough,, and if the system of Preferential Voting is introduced we shall be worse off than ever. As a matter of fact this system is advocated by the La.bour party and one of the official candidates at the renent Municipal Elections stated she did not know what it meant. It might be a good thing to have a mock election a;t> our .schools once a year to teach the rising generation how to vote. —I am, etc^, "V OTER.
