PEACE TREATY.

It. may be taken for , granted that j things are going along more smoothly in Paris than the cabled, accounts of nranglings at the Peace Conference have indicated. A Press Association message states that "the Peace Treaty is now coming over the cable, but cannot bo published until officially released." It is quite evident from this that the Treaty has been presented to the German delegates and, what is more satisfactory, that there has \been* a reconciliation between the Italians and the other members of the Alliance. This happy state of affaire is suggested by the fact that presentation of the treaty was being held back pending the return of the Italian delegates. Let us hope that the Germans will sign the treaty without undue delay, and that the peoples of the world, battered and impoverished as they undoubtedly are, will set out' courage-, ously on the rough road that lies be* fore them, determined that jealousy und ambition shall be sunk in internau tional concord.
