MINING IN NEW ZEALAND.
THE GOVERNMENT'S POLICY,
(Per Press Association.)
r WELLINGTON, May 6
The Minister of Mines waa asked to-day if he could give particulars of the new policy regarding mining. He replied that he could not go into details, but Cabinet had practically agreed to his proposals, and he was having legislation prepared for, submission to Parliament next session. His intention was to make such arrangements regarding prospecting and investigation of resources as to ensure thorough testing of the Dominion's mineral resources. It would be necessary to have a measure of reorganisation, and a full staffing of experts for the Mines Department, in order that samples and proposals submitted might be reported upon more quickly than was possible at present.
