TRAMWAY EMPLOYEES' PICNIC.

The Wanganui tramway employees held the irannual picnic on Good Friday on the property of Mr Cave. They are indebted to him for his kindness, and also desire to heartily thank all donors for gifts, and those who assisted to make the outing one of the most successful yet held. Mr C. E. Mackay and Mr Gohns acted as judges, and the races were keenly contested. An apology was received from Mr Veitch,, M.P. ' The following were the results i of races, etc.:— ' I

'. Mr T. Copeland kindly acted as starter. Mr Mackay presented the winners with their prizes on the return home on the boat, and cheers were given for him at the conclusion. A smoke social of past and present tramwaymen was held in the Druids' Hall at 8 o'clock, whh Mr G. Swain in the chair. The'usual toasts were proposed and responded to. Mr V. Barnes was presented with the Price Championship Shie-d and medal by Mr G. R. Pric«\ xbe donor of the shield, who made an -appropriate speech. Mr Barnes responded suitably.

Messrs Bull, Mcßride, Vi-jkevs, Northover, Richards, Keen, Hurley, Anderson, McCarthy, Brewer, and Trow contributed to the musical part of the programme, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. >
