THE REPARATION PAYMENTS
RESTITUTION OF STOLEN PROPERTY.
NEW YORK, April 18. A Paris telegram to the "Tribune" states that the sub-committee which' is considering .the reparation payments has reported that within eighteen months of signing the preliminary peace Germany shoujd be able to pay 4, 630,000,000 dollars (£920,000,000), of which 736 million dolors would be in specie. The committee also recommended that the enemy States should U compelled to restore all property stolen from the Allied countries.' these are not recoverable, the equivalent should be seized. This would include rolling stock, cattle, timber, machinery, and other property. The matter should be entrusted to an interAllied Commission.
