TRAINING CAMPS.

LOCAL BODIES' OPPOSITION % CONDEMNED.

(Per Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, March 6

The Minister of Defence to-day fcald local bodies favouring the abolition of the Territorial system were making a grave mistake. He merely wished defence for use at any time required and a sufficient staff for training. He thought men should enter camp at 18 years for four months' training. Camps would be established in both Islands. The coarse would be similar to that for the Expeditionary Force, with physical drill extended. A man would be improved in camp and shown how to continue physical improvement afterwards.
