WANGANUI .TEAM VISITS
WAVERLEY
Yesterday a strong eleveri picked from the local clubs visited Waverley and played a Waverley team on the Show grounds. Fine weather prevailed, albeit at times the hea-t was almost overpowering. The home team took first strike, but the batsmen were anything at home to Luxford and Ellerm, who dismissed them for 31 runs. Wanganui replied with 1142, the principal contributors being Tronson 53 (including a brace of sixes) and K. H. Cave 32 not out. Knocking up only 85 (Bradmore 37 and H. B. Cave 24) in their second innings, the Waverley team were defeated by an innings and 26 runs. The visitors batted a second time for" I^6 (Hyder and K. H. Cave 30 each, Day 22).
