They are most comfortably billetted in towns and villages, even the privates having ■the luxury <>fa bed after the strenuous campaigning and constant movement. The soldiers find the people extremely hospitable, and contrast various otlier places with France and Belgium, where vhe 'tendency was to exploit the soldiers. The Belgian people, just'released from the Hun invasion, greeted the Australians with the greatest cordiality, and ill is frequent 'to see Australians taking a Belgian family—father, mother and children — t> tli,p local military cinema chows. The New Zealand Division remains in ■tlie neighbourhood of Cologne. The Maori Baittalion ha-s been re-assembled at Dunkirk, with a vipw -to repatriation m a body. It is likely that the Now viealanders will shortly move near the coast in the vicinity of Havre, with a view to facilitating demobilisation. Tito French railways are congested, but through trains composed of ambulance care, now converted into sleepers, are running from Germany t-o the coast, with "a view to bringing out all *emaininc; of the 1915 Australians, numb«wng 12,000. .It, ha* been arranged t'iiait- one thousand will cross the Channel from Hay to Wevmauith every three days, being replaced by the latest reinforcements. It is deckled tha^ all Australians will embark homewards from an English pert. Thirteen thousand five hundred departed in December in 15 steamers,, and eight steamer« sailed n January, carrying 6500. The total shipped from Dover is 20,C00.
