U.K. POLICEMEN.
8000 IN SECRET CONFERENCE.
Received January 22, 10.30 p.m LONDON, January 21.
Eight thousand policemen from all parts of the United Kingdom participated in a mass meeting at the Albert Hall. Reporters were rigorously excluded. Strong guards of stewards were posted at every entrance. Many .Metropolitan police were refused admission, being unable to produce the official pass.
It is understood the meeting passed eight drastic resolutions protesting against autocratic methods of victimisation by chief constables; and demanding full recognition of their union, substantial increases in pay, and improved conditions.
