LONDON, Jan. 21. Mr Briekwell, director of the Cold Storage" Department of the Ministry of Food, slates that there will be a very large quantity, almost a glut, of Australia v meat available within a few months.. The weekly supply will continue sufficiently large to meet all needs. It is not necessary lo continue rationing. During th c war the cold storage increased tc- 190,000 tons. By October there will be a cubic foot of cold storage fo revery man, woman and child in tlie United Kingdom. The structures liave cost thus far over three millions. Tf th s waT had continued, they would have provided still more. Thi? is now unnecessary. Most of the cold stores are at seaports. London has sixteen milMon cubic feet, out of a tptal of■ I-'l millions. Liverpool. Manchester and Bristol arc next. Smaller stores are also dotted, over the Midlands, hutthere are few in the North of England or Scotland, because tli« consumers objected to frozen meat. Th e Cold Storage Department intended to relax control as quickly as possible, and leave the development to private enterprise.
