WELLINGTON, Oct. 29. Whfen the House resumed at 7.00, a message was received from the Council intimating that, the Council insisted upon its amendments to the Expeditionary Forces Bill, and assigning the reason for the insistence that the Council considered no class for special exemption should be defined * ■Sir James Allen moved that the House ask for a conference.

The motion was carried, and the House immediately adjourned until the ringing of the bell. At 7.55 a message was received from the Legislative Council announcing that the Council had agreed to a conference, and appointing 8 o'clock and the Legislative Council as the time and place for the conference.

On the motion of the Premier the House again adjourned until the ringing of the bell.

At 9.35 the House resumed, when the Speaker announced that the managers of the House had met the managers of the Council, and that they had be"Bn unable to arrive at any agreement. Sir James Allen moved that a further conference be asked for, and that the Hon. Mat-Donald, the Hon. Herries, Mr. Wilford and the mover be the new managers on behalf of the House.

This was agreed to. The Premier then moved that the House adjourn until 11 o'clock to-mor-row morning.
