MAN FALLS OVER A BJ.NK
A man named Joseph Weston, a labourer, aged about 54, was imuid lying dead at the nine-mile peg on the Makirikid Road, early yesterday morning. The police were • communicated with y and the body was brought into town. It appears that the deceased, who worked for Messrs Fernie Bros., came into Upokongaro on Saturday, and stayed at the hotel, sleeping in a whare alongside the stable. On Sunday evening he set out for Fernie's Station. He was se€^ by two horsemen within a short distance of where he was ultimately found dead. He was then apparently in an inebriated state, and it is presumed he missed his way and fell over the bank, his neck bein"broken. A bottle of beer and an empty bottle were found on the body. An inquest is to be held.
