FORDELL'S FINE EFFORT

A public meeting was held in the Fordell Hall on Monday, the 15th inst., to receive the balance-sheet in connection with the patriotic entertainments held in Fordell on October Ut and 11th in aid of " Our Day." The amount of money collected was indeod very creditable, and reflects credit on the patriotic spirit of the whole oi-t----rict. The weather on the evening cf the final and big effort was fa/ trou?. good, but a big sum of money vus taken, and everything put un fey auction brought good prices. A flag presented for auction by Mr S. Robiiison was auctioned, and realised the hynd some sum of £59 145., being imrdjy bought by Mr Robinson and presented to Mrs. Sutherland. The total amount of money collected by the two efforts was sliglitly over £163.
