An example of deceptions practised on the German troops at the front by theu- Government was related recently by an oilicer connected with the British recruiting mission in fcUe United States. .During th-e lull at the British recruiting depot it 280 Broadway, several of the English oificers made an informal call on the American rcoru'ting officers who aro in the smio building One of the Englishmen told of participating .m a raid by which .several German soldiers, including an Officer, were captured in a, front lino trench. This was unusual the narrator said, as German officers do not frequent ±ho first, line troiiches. This particular officer inquired of his captors where he was to bp taken.
"To England," v.-as the, reply. "How can that he?" he asked.
"Onr avmy holds England." The British officers found letters from homo on the Germans telling of the announcement of tiie capture'of London.
