(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. Great interest was taken by the pubhe in the Legislative Council's consderation of the Expeditionary Forces Amendment Bill, which had been deceived from the House. The ""chief subject of debate was Clause 3, exempting teachers, and therefore Marist Brothers. Considerable hostility was shown to the proposal, which was thrown out by 11 votes to four. The following was the division: For the proposal :—Sir Francis Bell, the Hons. Paul, McGinnity, and HallJones. . '

Against:—Hons. Aitken, Barr Buchanan, Carson, Morgan, Collins, Earn™J; Moore, MacGregor, Simpson, McGibbon. • ■

Sir Francis Bell then moved to report progress, asking leave to sit again.
