WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m.

Considerable discussion took place on.the Social Hygiene Bill, which was received from the ilouse, and deals with the methods proposed for the stamping out of venereal diseases.

Col.-Surgeon Collins strongly urged the necessity of making such diseases notifiable. Enquiries made among 30i doctors over two years showed there had been 15,524 cases under treatment. During the C-eaa- ended June 30t<h, 1917, 40,772 recruits had been examined, and 550 had been found suffering iroirfc venereal disease.

The Bill was put through^all stages. The Land Laws Amendment Bill ana the State Supply of Electrical Energy Bill were also received from the House and put through all stages. The Council adjourned until 8 p.m.
