EDUCATION BOARD.
The Wanganui Iducation Board met last night. Present: Messrs Fred Pirani (chairman), Christie, Hemin*r'Y,'- MSjn,^re > ProaJ > Bryant Seweil, Jobhn, Collins and Fraser.
SYMPATHY
A resolution of sympathy was passed to the relatives of Mr H. A. Malccimwho was in the employ of the Board as the time of his death.
Tho Board also expressed its sympathy with Mr W. H. Swanger, the secretary, who recently underwent a serious operation. In wishing Mr bwanger a speedy recovery, the Board: recognised that the cause of his illness was mainly his devotion to the Board'-s work.
A PALMERSTOX REQUEST
The committee oi the Terrace End School, where there is a roll of 625, protested against the removal of one of the male teachers, and asked, for his reinstatement. They now had three male teachers in all, whereas the College Street School had four. A fourth male teacher was necessary for the agricultural work.
The chairman said all the song was about the removal of n, first yeir pupil teacher, a boy who had been there two months. There were schools in Feild-. ing and Foxton with but two male teachers. '
SUNDRY ITEMS
The assistant-director of Education wrote commending the Board for the way Dominion Day had been celebrated in the. district, % having, .the day's work confined to the topics connected with the-history, and industries of the Dominion. The ccmmimicatiou added: "It was highly creditable to. all concerned."
was"decided to call tenders for the .Victoria Avenue School alterations work. •",. subsidy being available to meet the voluntary contributions. The Department notified that a subsidy up to £50 would be.available for contributions by the Carnarvon. School Committee. .
