QUEEN'S PARK SCHOOL SITE.

COUNCIL AND BOARD CONFER.

A meeting of members of, the Borough Council-and- the Education Board was held yesterday to discuss the Queen's Park School site question. ' The Mayor presided, and at the outset he raised the point that the proceedings should be taken- "in committee,", m other words, discuss tie matter privately. . . Mr Piram considered the public had the right to know what the suggestions were, ; and how the Education Board received them. It would be a pity if the public were not taken into their confidence from the start, because the matter really concerned them niore.

The iMayor said they might have to discuss matters of finance, and it would be advisable to discuss the matter "in committee." •

Mr Collins said he could not see what the.objections could be. • Mr Seweß suggested they should compromise. He did not see any objections to the newspapers being represented.

Mr T. B. Slipper echoed the Mayor's views. He said the public might get) a wrong impression from the preliminary negotiations. Further, the present negotiations would not be binding. .

Mr Pirani said he supposed they would have to give in, although personally, with Mr Collins and Mr Sewell, he had no objections. The. Mayor: Neither have we, but this is our rule. Nothing is decided until it is reported to the Council, well, that seems to be the feeling of the conference.
