Very brisk War Loan business was done at the Post Office to-day, the building being invaded by crowds of people. Tne following investments were made to-day:—4i per cent. Begg and Co., Ltd., £10,000; United Otago District Foresters, £2000; Victoria Insurance Co., £10,000; il. Hudson and Co., £•'15.000; Thomson and Co., £5000. INVERCARGILL, Sept. 3. Invercargill Post Office has taken £236,000 for the War Loan, and the city banks have handled £63,000. The country banks' returns have still to come iv, so that the complete figures will be well over £300,000.

AT HUNTERVILLE.

An amount of £39,400 was subscribed. At Runterville a total of £42,200 was subscribed. Private subscriptions included one amount of £15,000. one of £4000, one of £25,000, and eight separate amounts of £2800.
