ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
AUCKLAND, September 3. Robert M. Douglas, a manned man, who was engaged felling trees at Matahuri Gorge, was found dead -vrtli a tree across his neck and chest.
PALMERSTON N., September 3. A painfully sudden death occurred at St? Paul's Methodist Church' last night John Barnett, aged 73, a well-known farmer of Leeston, Canterbury, had walked to the service, and soon after he took his seat. he suddenly expired. The deceased had suffered i'roni heart trouble, bv.t recently had been in good health, and was visiting this district with his wife. His son, Dr Barnett, of Palmerston, is on active service.
