OHRISTCHURCH, August 31. The Supreme Court has been occupied for two days in hearing the case iv which Elizabeth Ann ' Eaddon sued Frederick Vivian Eockett for ,£5Ol damages for Lreach of promise of. marriage. The plaintiff was a widow and the defendant a draper. The jury returned a verdict for plaintiff ' for the full amount, but the Judge reduced it by £2 to carry costs on the lower scale. '

NAPIER, August 31. The Chief Justice to-day non-suited J. S. Chapham, who claimed i>soo from the Tribune newspaper, for alleged libel in five anonymous letters.
