AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

THE GHAND

A woman's past is not always worthy of emulation,, nor a man's either, as a matter of fact, and yet there are scores of instances where the 'woman pays, and that dearly, for acts of indiscretion, while the man goes Scot free. One woman's past has been put into picture form and produced with all the technical excellence picture patrons look 00 William Fox to give, and this fine presentation will occupy the screen, with other supports, at the Grand till tomorrow night. Those who were privileged to see this photo play yesterday afternoon and last night, and were able to compare it with Kreutzer's Sonata, which created such a furore in Australia and New Zealand, maintained that the ''Woman's Past" more than held its own. The picture is enhanced in value by reason of the fact that Nance O'Neii, the great actress, is breathing life into it all the time, and in working out the scheme of the author 'she has the capable support of Alfred! Hiekman, Clifford Bruce, and Ca.rl.ton Macy. The second episode of "The Purple. Iris"' tightens its grip on the hold. The comedy, "Hearts and Saddles," is unquestionably a scream.
