Our objective had been won, and we had dug in, when .britz commenced to bombard us with heavy artillery. A shell landed in our trench, and when I looked round 1 J found that Galbally and two others haj f been killed. It was a great battle, and \ many of our men fell, but we achieved **•-»• what we set out for. Galbally and 1 ' had rr. any talks together, as 1 am an old Wanganui boy (nephew to Mr. W, E. Morgan, Supply and Agency Coy., Ltd.), and I can't tell j^ou how sorry I am that he has been called, in the cause of duty. Since he joined up, no man could have been more zealous in his work ,and he was liked by everyone. I extend my sympathy to you in your sad bereavement, and anything further you should want to know, please don't think you aer troubling me by writing for it.% All I can do over here I shall do with pleasure.
