WELLINGTON, August 29. The P. and T. Conference to-day pas&3d a resolution suggesting a scale of bonuses to meet special distress owing to the depreciated purchasing power of the sovereign, also .suggesting the payment of a war bonus to . temporary postmistresses who were devoting their full time to duties, and urging the Government to «rant half pay to officers who had left on active service and have been transferred to specialist dirties. The conference decided to protest
against the reduction of travelling allowances, also against the department's action in demanding a refund of the 1916 war bonus from offiers who afterwards left on active service.
