PARIS, August 17. Marcel Hutin states that aeroplanes and artillery a?e playing an important role in the methodical British advance. They are directed at small objectives. Surprise blows are merely accessory to this plan of advance, which the French are also adopting. The Germans must not expect any rest on tlie West front. LONDON, August 17.
The Admiralty reports that naval aeroplanes carried out a series of raids yesterday, and dropped many tons of bombs on Ostend and Thorout railway stations, and the Ghistelles aerodrome, causing fires. They also attacked the Engel and TJittkerke aerodromes and road transports by aeroplane gunfire. All the machines returned.
