RAILWAYMEN TO STRIKE.

GRANTED.
Received August 19, 5.5 p.m. LONDOxN, August 18. The • Daily Express" says there is a grave probability of 40,000 drivers and firemen striking within three days unless the principle of the eight hours' day is immediately conceded. The men explain that they do not ask that the eight-hour day shall be carried out fully forthwith, but insist on recognition of the principle with a view to conferring on the extent to which the principle shall lie applied in war time.
