FRENCH INFANTRY'S FINE WORK
LONDON, August 16. A French communique states :-t-After violent artillery preparation we attacked at dawn in conjunction -vith the British. On our right the infantry with superb elan assaulted the enemy positions on both sides of the SteenstraateDisrnude road, carrying all objectives, and crossed the Steensbeck stream. They are progressing on the right bank in contact with the British.
